We believe a well-designed home should fill you with joy and peace. It should feel warm, welcoming and deeply personal. It should be collected, not catalog. A beautiful reflection of the things that matter to your family, tailored to your exact needs and designed for your daily life.

Designed to delight

Betsy Hicks, Owner & Principal Designer

Betsy has over 25 years of experience in textiles, fashion and interior design. Her love for design began as a child. She was naturally creative, and when she wasn’t painting, she was redesigning her bedroom or sewing her own clothing in just the right shade of French blue.

That creative streak continued as Betsy graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Clothing and Textile Design. Upon graduating, she moved to New York City where she worked in the fashion industry, including at Calvin Klein. She later moved back to Austin with her husband, and started Besty Hicks Interiors with a vision to design homes that are both beautiful and functional. Betsy’s deep expertise in art, textiles and construction materials makes her uniquely capable of designing spaces that look collected, not catalog. She loves color, bold prints, and mixing modern pieces with vintage ones to create looks that are both fresh and timeless.

Betsy lives in Austin and has been married to her best friend for over 23 years. They have three daughters and two energetic pups. She is passionate about giving back to the community, and involving her daughters in her work with Helping Hand Home, National Charity League and Get Mad. When she’s not swooning over wallpaper, hardware or a fresh coat of paint, you can find her on the tennis court, traveling with her family, or painting abstract landscapes.

Meghan Shannon, Associate Designer

Meghan grew up in Dallas and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Marketing. She spent over a decade leading brand marketing at several successful tech startups in Austin, including Bazaarvoice and Spredfast. She honed her project management skills working in a fast paced industry with ever-changing priorities, and learned to multitask and pivot on a dime.

Meghan met Betsy through a friend, and hired her to remodel her home in Westlake, updating it from top to bottom. They worked so well together that Meghan joined the Betsy Hicks Interiors team as an Associate Designer. Meghan is organized and detail-oriented, which perfectly compliments Betsy’s creativity and vision. She ensures client projects run smoothly from start to finish, and leaves no detail untouched. She is especially passionate about giving new life to vintage family pieces through fresh upholstery and paint, and incorporating meaningful art work in a space.

Meghan lives in Austin with her husband and three young children. She is a pro at cleaning stains off of beautiful rugs and chairs, and can vouch that Betsy knows how to pick the most lovely and durable fabrics. When she’s not day dreaming about lighting, drapery or refinished furniture, you can find her walking the Lady Bird Lake trail, cruising Lake Austin with her family, or curling up in her favorite (recently reupholstered) chair with a good book.
